'THE DARK KNIGHT RISES' COVERS PITTSBURGH IN SNOW

Since beginning filming in mid-May, Christopher Nolan has taken his “Dark Knight Rises” production to both India and the United Kingdom. But now the third part of the director’s Batman trilogy has come stateside, settling in for a three-week stint in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“The Dark Knight Rises” will be shooting in Pittsburgh five days a week until August 21, when the production will move on to additional locations. Though Nolan and star Christian Bale were characteristically tightlipped about the film, they did take time to praise The Steel City, as reported by the Pittsburgh Business Times.

At a news conference on Thursday, Bale mentioned that he is looking forward to “fighting on your streets” as Batman, but also assured attendees that “we’ll try to stay out of your hair as much as possible.”

Though the set will be a closed one so as to maintain some of the heavily anticipated film’s mystique, there are a few new details about the film to be gleaned from the interview. The Pittsburgh Business Times reported that the film would feature Heinz Field in a large crowd scene, as well as Carnegie Mellon University and other city landmarks. Director Nolan also revealed that Pittsburg would be having a white August, as they unleash a flurry of fake snow on the downtown area.

Following the Pittsburgh shoot, Nolan, Bale and the rest of the cast and crew of “The Dark Knight Rises” will move on to New York City and Los Angeles. “The Dark Knight Rises” hits theaters on July 20, 2012.
