"The Dark Knight Rises" has been unlike any movie that has shot in Pittsburgh in the past two decades and that includes the way it's going out.The production took out a full-page ad in the Post-Gazette today to say, "Thank You Pittsburgh."
It's a variation of the movie's teaser poster which shows a crumbling cityscape with a burst of light at the top in the form of a bat.
The ad is signed by producers Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Charles Roven along with Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures. Nolan is also the director and co-writer of the movie starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman.
In the 21-year history of the Pittsburgh Film Office (and likely stretching to George A. Romero's earliest days), no production has ever done anything so classy and thoughtful.
